Raised on songs and stories...
This'll be a fairly quick post, as it's 4 in the morning my time. I've woken up for some reason and can't fall back to sleep, even though 6 hours ago I was so tired I could barely hold my glass.
That's right. We had a shorterned version of our orientation tonight, and then our RA took us to a pub called Barge's Bar for the Ireland/France soccer...er...football match. Sadly, Ireland lost, but I did see a lot of soccer hooligans tonight. And we (me, my roommates Stephanie and Taylor, and another girl we were hanging out with, Kacey) met some guys who are getting their Masters' in Chemistry and Biology, who insisted we go to the Irish Science Festival. Nice boys, very friendly.
My RA's name is Padraig (with a little mark over the first a; say it like pod-rig) and he's pretty nice. That's the gaelic form of the name Patrick. We also met a girl named Siobhan, pronouned Shi-von. Crazy Gaelic. But she's really really awesome. As it Megan, our other guide sort of girl; she's originally from Michigan, but she's lived here the past 9 years, so she sounds pretty Irish.
All 13 of us from Leeson St. apt met and hung out tonight at the bar, which was fantastic. I had three pints, which is seriously more than enough beer...Guinness, Smithwick's, and Carlsberg, all of which cost about 4 Euro a piece. So not a lot of drinking out will be done.
******This post is actually from a couple days ago, but I couldn't get the internet to work right. More posts and pictures to follow ASAP.
