Just call me She-Ra
Both of my big suitcases are packed.
They weigh in at a combined weight of about 70 pounds, at least this is what my bathroom scales tell me. That's good. This means that I have about 20 pounds of wiggle room, so there's not a chance that the lady at the airport counter will look at me, exhausted, over her glasses and tell me that my bags are too big for flying and I have to empty them. I've been having this terrifying thought of getting to the airport and having them tell me I can only take one bag. But that can't happen...I mean, I suppose it could, but, in theory, I would know about it before then, right?
It appears I will have to either send some of my clothes home with my parents when they come, or throw some of my clothes away whilst in Ireland in order to bring home souveniers. I'm a good packer, and there's no way I should need any more clothes than what I have. Only four pairs of shoes though, plus my flops. That makes me sad.
The only things in my carry-on are a pair of jeans, a couple shirts and some underwear...just in case both of my bags get lost. Fingers crossed against that happening. To go in there still: the laptop, my folder containing all my important papers and documentation and what not, a few books (it's hard for me to not take any books...I think I've got two or three pretty dense ones that should last me for the trip and my layover), shampoo, conditioner, soap, makeup, some pens and a big notebook, my journal, Adonis (my teddy bear...which, okay, might seem like a frivolous thing to pack, and perhaps he is, but...I'm going to be alone in a strange country for 3 months...I'm not going without something that brings me instant comfort), and my eye mask (no telling how bright/noisy our area of Dublin is, and I'm not the world's best sleeper to begin). Maybe earplugs are a good investment? Those can wait, and if things get really bad, I'm sure I can find some there. Although I do need to find headphones for my laptop...no sense in keeping up my roommates with my terrible taste in late-night music :). Oh, and the digital camera. Can't forget that...but I also have my fairly sizeable purse, so getting all this stuff jammed in shouldn't be a real problem.
I have some checks to write, a huge one to IES for my tuition, my last bill from apartment life with Matt, and some blank ones to give Mike/Jill to take back to B-town for rent/basketball tickets while I'm gone. And also, I need to clean up the mess I made all over the house while trying to decide what to pack.
